test
?? What You’ll Need:
- A properly sized bike (feet should touch the ground when seated)
- A helmet (safety first!)
- A flat, open area (like an empty parking lot or park)
- Optional: elbow/knee pads and a patient friend/helper
STEP 1: Balance First (No Pedals Yet)
Start by removing the pedals (or use a balance bike).
- Sit on the seat and push off the ground with your feet.
- Practice gliding, steering, and stopping with your feet.
- Goal: Glide several feet with your feet up.
? Time spent here depends on your comfort with balance—it’s worth it!
STEP 2: Add Pedals and Learn Starting Position
- Reattach the pedals.
- Sit on the seat, hands on handlebars.
- One foot on the ground, the other foot on a pedal in the 2 o'clock position (ready to push down).
- Look forward, not at your feet.
STEP 3: Push, Pedal, Glide
- Push off the ground with your foot and press down on the pedal.
- Start pedaling right away.
- Keep your eyes forward and your body relaxed.
- Don’t oversteer—small adjustments keep you balanced.
STEP 4: Practice Starting, Stopping, and Turning
- Practice stopping with hand brakes or coaster brakes.
- Practice starting from a stop over and over.
- Try wide, gentle turns.
?? Expect a few wobbles. That’s part of learning
